Hypnotherapy is a combination of hypnosis and therapeutic intervention. The therapist leads the client to positive change while the client is deeply relaxed in a state of heightened suggestibility, called a trance. Although in a deeply relaxed state, people will not do things under hypnosis that they would be unwilling to do otherwise. The person being hypnotized is always in control.
